Letterkenny looks set to be hit with more traffic delays next week when a lane of the dual carriageway will be closed for road works.

One inbound lane, from Manor roundabout to the Dry Arch roundabout, will be blocked from Tuesday until Thursday for ‘essential maintenance’. 

The Donegal County Council notice did not specify what times the route would be closed. 

Last week, a Letterkenny Councillor made a call for traffic wardens and/or gardaí to be considered as measures to relieve traffic jams in the town.

Councillor Tomás Seán Devine said that, until major infrastructure projects are in place, personnel are needed to direct rush hour traffic.

On Wednesday, a public meeting was held in the Oldtown area of Letterkenny to protest congestion issues and demand action on proposed relief roads.
