Tottenham will be out to steady the ship in the Premier League as they make the short trip across London to face West Ham on Saturday.

The Hammers endured a nightmare start to the campaign, shipping three goals in their opening loss to Sunderland before being humbled 0-4 at home by Chelsea. Yet they bounced back just before the international break with a morale-boosting 3-0 win at Nottingham Forest — a result that proved costly for Nuno Espírito Santo, who lost his job in the aftermath.

Spurs, meanwhile, had begun their season with back-to-back clean-sheet victories over Burnley (3-0) and Manchester City (0-2). However, that early momentum came to a halt in Matchweek 3 when they stumbled to a home defeat against Bournemouth, leaving Ange Postecoglou’s men eager for a response this weekend.

Two fresh faces could be set for their first taste of Premier League action in East London. Summer signing Xavi Simons is pushing for a start, while deadline-day arrival Randal Kolo Muani is likely to begin on the bench. Should Dominic Solanke win his race against an ankle problem, he’ll be battling with Kolo Muani and Richarlison for the striker’s role. Midfielder Yves Bissouma may also shake off a knock, but is unlikely to dislodge the current starters.

Injuries remain a thorn in Tottenham’s side, with Kota Takai (foot), Dejan Kulusevski (knee), James Maddison (ACL) and Radu Dragusin (ACL) all sidelined, though Dragusin has made significant strides in his recovery.

Tottenham team news

As for West Ham, the Irons have moved to bolster their squad, re-signing veteran keeper Lukasz Fabianski on a short-term deal and bringing in Igor Julio on loan from Brighton after the defender rejected Crystal Palace. On the downside, Niclas Fullkrug is ruled out with a calf strain until at least the end of the month, joining Luis Guilherme (shoulder) on the absentee list, while George Earthy (ankle) remains doubtful.

David Potter could turn to Callum Wilson as a like-for-like replacement for Fullkrug, though he may be tempted to shift Jarrod Bowen centrally to make room for impact substitute Crysencio Summerville. The Dutch winger showed his spark against Forest, coming off the bench to win a penalty and provide an assist within minutes.
