Her funeral will take place at St Mochua’s Church, Derrynoose, at 2pm on Saturday, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Ms Lennon was regarded as one of the most talented footballers to come through the south Armagh club for many years.
Paying tribute, the secretary of Armagh Ladies Football Association Emma Oliver said ‘’Everyone in Armagh LGFA is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our former player Aoife Lennon, RIP.
“Aoife was part of our Junior All Ireland winning team in 2005 and Ulster winning team in 2004.
“We would like to send our condolences to Aoife’s wife Karen, parent’s Seamus and Adele, brothers Patrick and Sean, her nieces, nephews and wider family circle. We also keep in our thoughts Aoife’s friends and former teammates in Armagh LGFA and Derrynoose GAC’’.
Other tributes centred on her qualities off the field.
“A truly lovely girl, full of craic and she just loved her football and what a footballer she was,” a former school friend said in an online post.
“Still would have met her from time to time and she always stopped for a chat.
“Aoife was such a beautiful person inside and out,” read another tribute, sentiments which were echoed by locally based outfit Granemore Ladies GFC.
“Aoife was such a warm, kind soul with phenomenal footballing talent,” a statement read.
“We often welcomed her as a guest coach and our girls learned so much from her. She was a friend to many in the club and will be deeply missed.”
LGFA president, Trina Murray, said news of Ms Lennon’s death had come as “a huge shock”.
“We watched Aoife wearing the colours of Derrynoose and Armagh with distinction for many years and she was a truly wonderful footballer.
“In a coaching capacity, Aoife also displayed exemplary skills and she touched the lives of many young people with her abilities in that regard, as well as serving as a much-loved and admired role model with her prowess on the field of play.
“An extremely warm and caring person, Aoife has left a long-lasting legacy and her life has sadly been cut short far too soon.
“On behalf of all of us at the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, I wish to extend our sympathies to Aoife’s wife, Karen, all family members and her wide circle of friends.
“Aoife was a trailblazer whose passing will leave a huge void in the lives of so many people.”
Members of Derrynoose GAC shared their condolences, posting online that they “deeply regret the death of former player Aoife Lennon who has tragically passed away.”
A statement added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Aoife’s wife Karen, her mum & dad Seamus and Adele, her brothers Patrick & Sean (Senior player), her nephew Jamie, her nieces Grace & Lila (underage players) and to her wider family circle.”
