KELOWNA — A former pipeline worker in Kamloops who broke out on the singing competition TV show “American Idol” took home two awards at the 2025 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) awards.

During the ceremony in Kelowna Saturday (Sept. 13), Cameron Whitcomb won the CCMA awards for Fans’ Choice and Breakthrough Artist or Group of the year. He was also nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Single or the Year and Songwriter(s) of the Year.

In his acceptance speech, the Nanaimo local thanked his fans for being there for him, saving his life and keeping him sober.
