While we may be just four games into the Premier League season, Ruben Amorim’s long-term prospects of Manchester United have quickly deteriorated over the last month or so.

The Portuguese boss had an incredibly difficult start at Old Trafford in his first campaign, finishing 14th in the league after coming into the club in November. However, it was hoped that a full pre-season and summer transfer window would bring about markedly improved results this time around.

That has certainly not been the case thus far.

Yesterday’s 3-0 loss at Manchester City was arguably their worst display of the season so far, being completely outplayed by what had previously been a struggling City side.

Keys Had Shock Take On Who Could Replace Amorim At Manchester United

Ruben Amorim now finds himself in an incredibly perilous position at Manchester United. He has shown little indication that he is capable of turning around this current situation, having now won just eight of his 31 league games in charge of the club.

The hierarchy at Old Trafford will surely be considering his future if results do not quickly improve, even if it did mean sacking a second manager in the space of just 12 months.

Speaking on beIN SPORTS, Richard Keys summed up how poor Amorim has been in his role and suggested an obvious replacement should Manchester United look to move on over the coming weeks.

I don’t see a way out of this issue for them. Ruben Amorim clearly is not the man to lead Manchester United.

I think he looks lost, I think he looks like a scared rabbit every time the lights are turned on him. I think he still would leave if you gave him the encouragement to do so.

That’s just what I see from his body language…

He’s had 31 Premier League games and won eight. Across a season you’re getting relegated with form like that…

It’s frightening. This is where we expect to see them now…

Right now, Nuno [Espirito Santo] is a better option, and he’s available.

Nuno Espirito Santo did an excellent job at Nottingham Forest this season, but the fact that someone of his calibre is even being suggested for the Manchester United job shows just how far their stock has fallen in recent times.

While it remains to be seen what options would be considered as a potential replacement, it is now looking increasingly likely that Ruben Amorim will not be the man to lead the club in the long-term.
