Councillor Declan Lynch said: “Firstly, my thoughts go out to the victim’s family and friends.
“This is an extremely difficult time for them. And I think I would urge everyone to be mindful and respectful of that because there is a grieving family.
“It’s reported that there is two people in custody and I would urge people to let the police do their job and not to speculate.
“It’s also important to remember that there’s a community in complete shock and grief. I don’t think any community expects this to come to their door and to their street so it’s important to be mindful again that there is a community in complete shock and fear
“I would just urge anyone with any information at all to get in contact with the PSNI to help them with their investigation.”
The PSNI has launched a murder investigation.
Detective Inspector Jill Angus urged anybody with information to contact them.
She said: “My thoughts are with Barry’s family, who are left to try to come to terms with their devastating loss.
“Two people – a 37-year-old man and 38-year-old woman – arrested yesterday, 15 September, remain in custody at this time.
“Our enquiries are continuing, and I am keen to take the opportunity to reiterate my appeal to anyone with information to contact detectives on 101. Please quote reference number 29 of 15/09/25.”
