Two 16-year-old boys have been arrested following an attack that left a 15-year-old boy in hospital. Police were called to Sheil Park at around 3.45pm today (September 19) to reports a boy had been assaulted.
The victim has been taken to hospital with a head injury and police say he is in a “stable condition”. Officers arrested the two boys near the scene of the incident and they have been taken into police custody.
Speaking at the scene, one person told the ECHO: “There’s always gangs of kids gathering in the park, it’s rough.
“When something like this happens I don’t even get shocked anymore. It doesn’t shock me.”
Another resident added: “I came out about 4pm for a cigarette and there was police everywhere.
“It looked like something major happened. Hopefully the lad is okay.”
Merseyside Police issued a statement to the ECHO. They said: “We have arrested two males following an assault in Liverpool earlier today.
“At around 3.45pm on Friday September 19, we received a report that a 15-year-old boy had been assaulted.
“Emergency services attended and he was taken to hospital for treatment to a head injury.
“He is in a stable condition.
“Two 16-year-old boys were arrested nearby and they have been taken into police custody.
