Police have issued an update on the victims of a nightclub shooting in Birmingham city centre and the ongoing investigation.

Four people suffered injuries following a shooting at Mango nightclub in Bristol Street at around 3am yesterday, Saturday September 20.

A man was left in a critical condition in hospital, while three other people – two men and a woman – sustained injuries that were less serious.

In an update issued today (September 21), West Midlands Police said that one of the men is now in a stable condition in hospital.

Meanwhile, two other men are also undergoing treatment for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The woman, who was initially believed to have suffered a gunshot injury, is now thought to have sustained her injury when she fell during the disturbance.

She has since been discharged from hospital.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man and three women aged in their 20s and 30s, who were arrested yesterday following the shooting, have since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

West Midlands Police said Mango nightclub remains closed today (September 21), with officers continuing to review CCTV and gather evidence.

Det Insp Racheal Allen, from the major crime unit, said: “We are building a clearer picture of what happened in the nightclub, and are working flat out to ensure we identify everyone who was involved.

“It’s still really important that we hear from anyone who was inside the venue, or who may have taken any pictures or video.”
