Per a new report from NHL analyst James Mirtle, the Toronto Maple Leafs could trade former RFA forward Nick Robertson soon, despite having re-signed him to a 1 year deal in the summer.

Even though it looked like the relationship between the Toronto Maple Leafs and former RFA forward Nick Robertson was going to continue for at least another year, that now appears in doubt.

Per a report from NHL analyst James Mirtle, the Maple Leafs could trade Robertson as soon as November.

Nicky is a hard worker who puts the puck in the net. He’s definitely a part of this team and we’ll see where he fits.I can’t tell you exactly where he’s going to play and I can’t tell you where a lot of guys are going to play. We’re glad he’s here.

Robertson played in 69 games for the Leafs last year, but was scratched in all but 3 playoff games.

The Maple Leafs re-signed Nick Robertson this summer

Robertson was an RFA entering the summer, but avoided salary arbitration with the Maple Leafs by agreeing to a 1 year contract in early August.

It was the 2nd straight 1 year deal that Robertson has signed with the Maple Leafs, including the deal from last summer.

Robertson, who was taken by the Maple Leafs with the 53rd overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, has 56 points (32G, 24A) in 156 NHL games, all in a Toronto sweater.
