Aston Villa’s performances smack of players “bored” of Unai Emery’s decisions, claims Theo Walcott.

Villa are in 18th place in the Premier League, winless after five league matches and have only scored once in the top flight.

It’s a far cry from previous seasons when Emery’s side challenged towards the top of the table and competed with the best in Europe in the Champions League.

Emery publicly criticised his players in the wake of their latest result – a 1-1 draw at Sunderland in the Premier League on Sunday.

And discussing Villa on Match of the Day, former Arsenal man Walcott said: “When you have a manager for so long, and I had Arsene Wenger for a long period of time, and you sometimes need a different, change of voice, or you need new players coming in.”

“It’s like they’re bored of some of his decision-making at times,” he added.

“He’s calling players lazy – trust me there’s going to be a few not happy with that.”
