A popular health snack has been pulled from supermarket shelves after pieces of metal were discovered inside.

ALDI first launched a nationwide recall of Made Real Wholefood Balls for selected date markings on Monday, but on Tuesday extended it to cover all date markings up to and including September 23, 2026.

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) said the recall was due to “the potential presence of foreign matter” — metal, warning it could cause illness or injury if consumed.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) issued the recall of Smooshed Wholefood and Protein Balls by Tasti Products Limited after the “presence of foreign matter”, later confirmed to be metal, was found inside their products.

The snacks have been available for sale at both Coles and Woolworths stores nationally.
