A person has been seriously hurt in a crash that’s closed parts of a key road in central Auckland.

Reporters at the scene described a badly damaged vehicle, alongside an also damaged police car on Victoria Street, between Queen Street and Hobson Street.

Police said the two-vehicle crash was reported at about 5.40am near the intersection of Victoria and Albert streets.

Victoria Street was closed between Queen Street and Hobson Street.

Police urged drivers to use other routes and said the area may be closed for some time.

Fire trucks were also at the scene.
