The Toronto Blue Jays confirmed the signing of 18-year-old righty Moon Seojun.
The Seoul native becomes the first Korean-born international signing in club history.
The Chosun Daily reported in August that Moon turned down offers from the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets to sign a deal worth $1 million with the Jays.
Over three seasons at Jangchung High School, Moon was 6-2 with an earned-run average of 2.18 over 66 innings of work. He struck out 93 batters and walked 47. Moon did not surrender a home run.
Moon was expected to be a top-three pick in this month’s KBO draft.
