The debut season of The Traitors Ireland came to a dramatic end last night, although not everyone has been impressed with the manner in which the series was wrapped up.

Last night’s finale would see the final five contestants be given one last attempt to weed out the traitors in the group, or else risk missing out on was turned out to be a jackpot worth over €42,000.

While there was some drama in the episode, many believe that The Traitors Ireland made a major error when it came to the way the show was ended.

‘The Traitors Ireland’ Made Big Mistake By Not Following UK Finale Format

Heading into the series finale of The Traitors Ireland, there was still two traitors among the final five contestants. That was soon whittled down to just one, with Nick being banished at the final round table.

That meant that traitor Ben made it into the final showdown alongside Oyin, Vanessa, and Kelley. Eventually, the three girls would also get rid of Ben, going on to split the prize pot three ways.

However, there is one aspect of that ending that viewers were not impressed by.

In the finale, the final four contestants would vote whether to continue the game or eliminate another player. They were always going to choose the latter due to the belief that one traitor still remained.

They eventually voted out Ben, who would go on to reveal that he was indeed a traitor. This meant that the trio left were all but certain that the other players were faithfuls, essentially removing any sort of jeopardy from that final decision.

This is something that differs from the UK version of The Traitors.

In that show, the final few contestants do not reveal whether or not they were traitors after being voted off. This means that the remaining contestants would be far more uncertain as to whether any more traitors remain when making the decision about potentially continuing the game.

For example, in last night’s episode Ben would not have stated whether he was a traitor after being voted off. This would have meant that the other contestants would have been unsure whether one of the three still left standing would have been a traitor.

It would have added a huge amount of jeopardy to the final decision instead of the Oyin, Kelley, and Vanessa being delighted to have weeded out Nick and Ben.

Quite a few viewers pointed out this flaw in the finale of The Traitors Ireland.

One of the best series ever produced for Irish television and the ending has absolutely sunk it. Don’t have Nick and Ben reveal whether they’re traitors and then you’ve got actual drama for the end game. What an anticlimax. #TraitorsIRL

No idea why they revealed if they were traitors or not in the final of #TraitorsIRL. The other versions of the show moved away from this in recent years. Made for much more entertaining viewing to the end, felt the end of #TraitorsIreland was ruined a bit by revealing.

WHY would they let Ben and Nick REVEAL they were both Traitors?? 😭 ruined the final completely 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ #TraitorsIRL

Poor production choice by having Ben reveal he’s a Traitor. Should have kept it blind like the UK #TraitorsIRE #TraitorsIreland

At the end game they shouldn’t have revealed if Ben was a traitor or not and leave the girls with a decision to make

They knew that there were only 2 traitors left and because they made Ben reveal ..they knew they got the 2 of them

Keep it quiet at the end game 😡 #TraitorsIRL

While the Traitors Ireland was a sensational watch, this production decision meant that the season ended on somewhat of a damp squib.

Hopefully that is something that is rectified next year.
