In a series of chaotic events in New Jersey’s heated governor’s race Thursday, Democrats called for an investigation after a federal agency said it mistakenly released most of Democratic nominee Mikie Sherrill‘s military records — including personal data — to an ally of her Republican challenger.

It unfolded alongside the revelation that Sherrill was not allowed to walk with her class when she graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy 30 years ago. She said it was because she did not report classmates involved in a high-profile cheating scandal.
