Southampton boss Will Still said his decision to drop Ireland goalkeeper from the starting line-up was based on statistics.
Bazunu had started the first six league games of the season for the Saints in a slow start to the new term, while he was rested for their League Cup ties where veteran Alex McCarthy got the nod.
