After 12 days scouring more than 600 square kilometres in harsh and difficult conditions, the search for a 62-year-old man missing in Western Australia’s remote north has been scaled back.

Mark Sear was last seen driving away from Moola Bulla Station on September 19, about 80km north of Halls Creek in the Kimberley.

Missing man search continues

High temperatures and harsh conditions have complicated the search for missing 62-year-old man Mark Sear, who was last seen 10 days ago in Western Australia’s remote north.

Despite an extensive land and air search by local police, officers from Perth’s Tactical Response Group, rangers and State Emergency Service volunteers, Mr Sear has not been found.

A WA Police spokesperson said on Wednesday morning that while the active search had been downscaled, officers would continue looking for Mr Sear.

“Significant air and land resources have been committed to the search,” the spokesperson said.

“Local police continue to appeal for [people with] any information regarding the whereabouts of Mark Sear to contact police immediately on 131 444.”
