LION TO FINALLY MAKE WAY WEST
Out-of-favour Brisbane midfielder Deven Robertson has reportedly requested a trade to the West Coast Eagles.
The West Australian, who’s out of contract but not eligible for free agency, has struggled in recent seasons breaking into Chris Fagan’s star-studded side — missing both premierships while plying his trade in the reserves.
The Eagles almost landed Robertson two years ago — and he also attracted interest from the Western Bulldogs this year — but he’ll now finally make his way back to his home state, per AFL Media’s Riley Beveridge.
The 24-year-old played a career-high 16 games in 2023, including in the Lions’ grand final loss to Collingwood, but then managed just two senior games in 2024 and four this year.
But the 47-gamer figures to slot in nicely to a West Coast midfield in desperate need of more mature bodies. He averaged 26.1 disposals and 6.6 tackles in 15 games for the VFL Lions this year, including two finals.
Robertson joins Brisbane teammate Callum Ah Chee in solidifying his desire to leave the back-to-back premiers, with dual flag-winner Brandon Starcevich a possibility of joining Robertson in Eagles colours.

DEES CHANGE MIND ON GIANT CHASE
Melbourne has reportedly “backflipped” on its pursuit of uncapped Giants utility Wade Derksen, who’s out of contract in western Sydney.
The Demons had chased the 194-centimetre forward previously and this year renewed their interest, but on Thursday, Nine’s Tom Morris reported that the club was no longer keen on luring the 24-year-old to Melbourne.
“The Dees tried to get him in last year’s trade period, and showed interest throughout 2025, but are no longer keen,” Morris reported via social media platform X.
It comes as the Demons hope to persuade Collingwood premiership forward Brody Mihocek to join the club as a free agent.
The Dees have also previously flagged interest in St Kilda backup ruck Max Heath as Max Gawn insurance, while also retaining veteran big man Tom Campbell to perform a similar role.
But Melbourne also shapes to be big sellers this October, with all of Christian Petracca, Judd McVee, Steven May and Clayton Oliver expected to depart.
