Presidential candidate Catherine Connolly has insisted a gun convict she brought in to work in her Dáil office was no longer a member of Éirígí at the time, even though the group continued to refer to her as a “comrade” while she was in prison.

Ms Connolly told the Irish Independent last night that she was certain Ursula Ní Shionnáin was not in the anti-peace process organisation when she was trying to secure a job for her in Leinster House.
