The Hamilton Police Service has charged a 64-year-old man from Hamilton with Careless Driving Causing Death under the Highway Traffic Act.
The charge stems from an investigation into a collision that occurred on August 22, 2025, at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Grosvenor Avenue. The collision involved a motor vehicle and an electric scooter.
The operator of the electric scooter, a 62-year-old woman from Hamilton, was transported to hospital following the collision, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on December 10, 2025.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who has information that could assist investigators, to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-546-4753.
