A 31-year-old man charged with the murder of his parents and brother has been further remanded in custody.

Robert O’Connor (31), Drumgowna, Louth Village, appeared before Drogheda District Court on Monday via video link from Cloverhill Prison.

He had been remanded in custody when brought before a special sitting of the district court last Tuesday.

Louise O’Connor, who was 56, her 54-year-old husband Mark O’Connor, and their 27-year-old son Evan O’Connor were found dead at their home in Drumgowna on Monday September 29.

The accused was remanded in custody via video link to Drogheda Court on October 20 for service of a book of evidence.

Judge Nicola Andrews extended legal aid to cover an independent psychiatric assessment and for senior counsel.

Gardai agreed to make available a synopsis of preliminary disclosure for the independent psychiatric assessment which Mr O’Connor’s solicitor Paul Moore said will be taking place on Wednesday.
