Taiwan will speed up building a comprehensive system to protect the self-run democracy from aerial attacks, President Lai Ching-te said — an announcement that comes as the US pushes Taipei to do more to defend itself from China.
The T-Dome program would “establish a rigorous air defense system in Taiwan with multi-layered defense, high-level detection and effective interception,” Lai said in an address Friday in Taipei marking the self-run democracy’s National Day.
