Eight people have been arrested after Peel police recovered more than 450 pieces of stolen mail, such as credit cards and cheques, worth more than $400,000.

Peel police said they launched a joint investigation with Halton police and Canada Post in April called “Project Undeliverable,” looking into a series of mail thefts across Peel Region.

“The investigation uncovered a group of individuals working together to target residential mailboxes, resulting in widespread theft and disruption to community members,” police said in a news release on Friday.

Project Undeliverable Map supplied by Peel Regional Police shows the incidents of mail thefts in Peel Region between April and September 2025.

Investigators executed search warrants on Sept. 8 and 9 at multiple residences in Mississauga, including in the areas of Rhinebank Street and Brandon Gate Drive, and Dwiggin Avenue and Kittridge Drive.

The search resulted in officers seizing 465 pieces of stolen mail, such as 255 cheques, 182 credit cards, 35 government IDs, and 20 gift cards, police said.

The eight suspects have been identified as Sumanpreet Singh, Gurdeep Chattha, Jashandeep Jattana, Harman Singh, Jasanpreet Singh, Manroop Singh, Rajbir Singh and Upinderjit Singh.

Police laid a total of 344 charges against the eight suspects, including several counts of theft from mail, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break-in instruments, mischief, and possession of stolen credit card.

Police say they are actively engaged with the Crown Attorney’s Office and the Canada Border Services Agency to determine whether some of the accused who are foreign nationals may be deported as part of the judicial process.
