Electric scooter rider critical after collision with car in central Auckland

Someone working at a business near the site said they heard a loud noise – a “huge crash”.

They didn’t see what happened, but after hearing the collision saw an injured person who was bleeding and one of their knees was all “messed up”.

The witness said they saw paramedics tend to the man on the road and trying to calm him down before they eventually took him away.

The driver of the car was shaken up and had asked for CCTV of the incident for insurance purposes.

The witness said someone from a shop ran out to help the man before paramedics arrived.

Another person said they heard a loud crash and it looked like the person involved went flying.

Auckland Transport is warning of detours for several bus routes as a result of an “emergency service incident”.

It has closed Symonds St in both directions from Wellesley St to Mount St.
