A young man has been crushed to death in a freak workplace accident in Sydney‘s south-west.
Emergency services were called to the site in Prestons shortly after 5.30am on Friday following reports that a worker had been struck by a forklift and became trapped underneath.
The man, aged in his early 20s, died at the scene, despite frantic efforts to revive him.
He is yet to be formally identified.
The tragedy occurred at Green Star Food Services, a wholesaler which provides poultry, meat, seafood, and smallgoods to businesses.
Detectives and forensic officers remain at the scene.
‘A crime scene has been established and investigations commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident,’ a NSW Police spokesperson said.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
SafeWork NSW has also been notified.
Green Star Food Services was contacted for comment.
