One hour to go…

The AFL trade period closes in exactly one hour.

One hour for a conclusion to the Cirque du Merrett. One hour for Sydney to have one last go at Charlie Curnow. One hour for Adelaide to convince Brisbane to part with Cal Ah Chee. One hour for paperwork to go through for Clayton Oliver, Christian Petracca, Jack Steele and more.

Now or never, people!

Christian Petracca move to Gold Coast set to be completed

Cal Twomey of AFL.com.au has just reported that the deal to get Petracca to the Suns has been agreed and is going through the system as we speak.

The Suns are giving up pick seven, pick eight and a future first-rounder for Petracca and a bunch of picks which will help them match high bids on academy prospects in the draft.

Those specifics will be with us shortly when confirmation lands. But this one is all but done and dusted.

20m agoWed 15 Oct 2025 at 7:18amDone deal! Geelong and Richmond agree to deal of teenager

Geelong and Richmond’s list bosses were hooked up on a Zoom and no one could figure out why.

It turns out the Tigers have traded for Geelong teenager Patrick Retschko, who is yet to play a game for the Cats.

The Tigers will send Geelong a sixth-round pick (currently No.99) to get this deal done.

Retschko is a 186cm midfielder who was taken in last year’s rookie draft by Geelong.

Hilarious scenes as Damian Barrett admits live on Trade Radio that he’d never heard of Retschko. That makes two of us Damo.

Clayton Oliver deal to GWS appears to be done

The reports are flooding in now that Clayton Oliver is soon to officially be a Giant. A future third-rounder seems to be the cost.

There is still no second offer from Sydney for Charlie Curnow

There are 90 minutes to go in the trade period and there’s not a lot of movement as it pertains to Charlie Curnow.

I’ve got a sneaky feeling that the Cats aren’t quite out of it because they’ve just got a habit of getting these big deals over the line.

Riley Beveridge on Trade Radio says Sydney is yet to place a second offer to the Blues.

Geelong has also had an offer knocked back for Curnow and is yet to return to the trade table.

Here’s Jamarra Ugle-Hagan in his own words after his move to the Gold Coast was confirmed.

“Though it didn’t end the way I would have liked, I have nothing but gratitude and respect for the Doggies,” he wrote on Instagram.

“My time at the Kennel has come with its share of lows — there’s no denying that — but the memories and friendships I’ve made will stay with me for life.

“From a shy 15-year-old who moved to Melbourne, the Doggies took me in and gave me a family and a home. For that, they’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

“Part of me wishes things had ended differently, but I leave proud to have worn the red, white, and blue.

“Thank you to all my teammates, coaches, and staff who’ve been part of my journey — I’m forever grateful.

“Only good things to come from here. Can’t wait to get up to goldy and do myself and my community proud.”

1h agoWed 15 Oct 2025 at 6:31amDone deal! Jack Buller is now officially a Collingwood player

We’ve got another confirmed deal in the books as Jack Buller’s move to Collingwood is made official.

Buller departs the Swans having played 10 games and having kicked 11 goals (all in 2025).

He’ll be an exciting young addition into Collingwood’s forward line which is of course without Brody Mihocek now.

El Jefe is in the building for Carlton now

Carlton is bringing in the big guns now as club CEO Graham Wright walks into the Blues war room.

Will Wright sign off on a Charlie Curnow deal before the deadline?

Wright and Blues football boss Chris Davies having a big chat now in the corridors.

Curnow’s boss Robbie D’Orazio now joins the high-powered huddle as well.

D’Orazio has now gone into the Blues war room to chat to Carlton’s dealmakers.

There it is! Jamarra Ugle-Hagan is officially a Gold Coast Suns player.

Gold Coast sends a 2025 fourth-round pick (currently No.74) to the Western Bulldogs in exchange for the former No.1 pick.

The Bulldogs indicate that none of Ugle-Hagan’s money remains on their books moving forward in a club statement.

“Over the past 12 months, Jamarra has faced some complex personal challenges and adversity, with a fresh start for both player and club seen as the best outcome for all parties,” Bulldogs football boss Sam Power said in the statement.

“During this period, Jamarra’s welfare and wellbeing has remained the club’s sole priority, as we collectively navigated these challenges with Jamarra.

“We wish him nothing but the best for his next chapter up on the Gold Coast.”

Jack Steele could be closing in on a move to Melbourne

SEN’s Sam Edmund is reporting that Jack Steele and Melbourne’s interest is now “reciprocated”.

He’s got two years left to run on his current deal, so I suspect the Saints and Dees will now try to thrash out an agreement over who pays how much.

Steele is 29, but would be an excellent addition to what is poised to be a young Demons midfield next year.

Collingwood and Geelong exchanging words in the tunnel

Andrew Mackie, Geelong’s list boss, is in the corridors chatting with Charlie Gardiner of Collingwood.

I wonder what they’re possibly talking about. Could the Pies be stepping in as a third team to facilitate a move for Rowan Marshall or Charlie Curnow maybe?

Or do the Cats have interest in adding Jordan De Goey?

1h agoWed 15 Oct 2025 at 6:09am

The AFL boss is now in the building as well

Don’t let anyone tell you the trade period doesn’t matter folks!

AFL CEO Andrew Dillon is now mixing it up with journalists and teams at Docklands Stadium.

I wonder if Dillon wanted to cast his eye over the Jamarra deal.

Here’s where things stand in the Rowan Marshall talks

Rowan Marshall is another star whose future is in the wind as we head towards the trade deadline.

“I fully believe that the Marshall talks will ramp up in the next hour as he looks to get to Geelong,” says Damian Barrett on Trade Radio.

“They will explore every possible chance of this.”

Cal Twomey says Collingwood has tabled a future second-round pick to North Melbourne for Jy Simpkin, an offer which has been “flatly rejected” by the Kangaroos.

It’s safe to say the Kangaroos, who were reportedly after two first-rounders for their skipper, were never going to accept that from the Pies.
