The case involving the widow of a man, who was murdered in a restaurant shooting two years ago, and who is accused of setting an XL Bully Pitbull on gardai has been adjourned for another four months while awaiting directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Veronica Maher (54) – whose husband Jason ‘Jay’ Hennessy Snr was shot dead in Browne’s Steakhouse in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 on Christmas Eve two years ago – is charged with deliberately letting a large restricted breed XL Bully Pit Bull dog from her front garden while members of An Garda Siochana, who were on beat patrol in the area on Friday, March 28.
Ms Maher, of Sheephill Avenue in Blanchardstown is also charged with possessing a €10 marked note that was used as part of an undercover operation to purchase illegal drugs from the rear of her home address on Thursday, April 3.
She is further charged with threatening to kill or cause serious harm to Garda Joseph Doherty on Friday, March 28 at her home address and possessing €1,350 in cash allegedly the proceeds of criminal conduct the same date at her home address.

Ms Maher’s daughter Jade Hennessy (32) and another woman Kayleigh McEntee (26), who are charged with drugs and proceeds of crime offences on the same date, also have a further four month wait for DPP directions.
Ms Hennessy, of Sheephill Avenue, Blanchardstown is charged with possessing cocaine for sale or supply on Thursday, April 3 at her home address at Sheephill Avenue and being in possession of €1,575 proceeds of crime while Ms McEntee, of Waterville Row in Blanchardstown, is charged with possessing €6,875 proceeds of crime at Sheephill Avenue on the same date.
All three were remanded on bail with certain conditions following their first court appearances in April.
At Blanchardstown District Court on Tuesday, October 14, Sergeant Maria Callaghan told Judge Aine Clancy the State is still waiting on DPP directions.
Solicitor for all three, Simon Fleming, said there is consent to ‘a lengthy remand’ until February 24 next year.
“There is consent as there is no point coming over and back until directions are received,” said Mr Fleming.

At a previous court appearance, a garda witness told Blanchardstown District Court in April all three women were arrested as part of “an ongoing investigation into the activities of an organised crime group in West Dublin.
Dad-of-ten Hennessy Snr was gunned down in Browne’s Steakhouse in front of his family and friends by gunman Tristan Sherry. Sherry (26) was overpowered at the scene and fatally injured.
In February six men were convicted in connection with the killing of Sherry.
