Fox News chief political analyst Brit Hume’s take on the motive for the “No Kings” protests drew swift condemnation and a series of blunt reminders this weekend.

The rallies that saw millions take to the streets nationwide to express their anger at the Trump administration’s policies were “mostly,” Hume wrote on social media, just “a protest against a man who sought power 3 times through democratic elections and enacted his major agenda item by majority vote of democratically elected members of Congress.”

Then he snarked: “Some king.”

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), a vehement critic of Trump, replied to Hume’s post: “Come on. You know what this means. Of course he’s not a literal king because we won’t let him be. But our nation was founded on anti-corruption, disseminating power to the people, holding all equal under the law.”

Kinzinger reminded Hume how Trump “tried to overthrow a free election, pardoned 1000 criminals, and has placed congress on their knees. Oh not to mention the Epstein files, and his 400 million dollar free jet that we will pay 1 billion to upgrade and give to him.”

He concluded, “Gold palaces and ballrooms and massive arches are not the works of someone who seeks humble power.”

Other commentators echoed Kinzinger’s point, saying the “No Kings” slogan wasn’t literal but reflected wider fears over authoritarianism and the erosion of democratic norms during Trump’s second term.

No Kings.No Bias.Just Truth.
