Peel Regional Police say a man wanted in the shooting death of a woman in Brampton, Ont. remains at large and is armed and dangerous.

According to police, the woman was shot in the Airport Road and Queen Street East area earlier on Tuesday.

Peel paramedics said they received a call at 2 p.m. local time and treated the woman on scene. They said the woman, who succumbed to her injuries and pronounced dead at the scene, was not transported to hospital.

Police told reporters Tuesday evening that the suspect is 38-year-old Anthony Deschepper, who was also the suspect in an Amber Alert involving a one-year-old girl who has since been found “safe and sound.”

Police went on to tell reporters that it’s believed to be a case of intimate partner violence, but they do not have further information at this time.

They said they also have recent information that the vehicle may have been seen in the Niagara-Fort Erie area.

Niagara Regional Police put out an alert at about 6:52 p.m. advising Fort Erie Crystal Beach residents in the area of Prospect Point and Ridgeway Road to shelter in place as officers assist Peel police in locating Deschepper, who is believed to be in the area.

Police urge anyone who sees a man matching the description to call 911 and not approach him.
