Geelong Cup day organisers managed to get through the first three of a bumper nine-race card before the worst of forecast severe wind conditions forced a halt.
Racegoers were forced to evacuate all marquees and directed to stand 25m away from the tents because of the dangerous winds.

The club removed all umbrellas and like on Tuesday in anticipation of the conditions.
The start of the first race was delayed a couple minutes after the wind knocked over part of the inside rail at the 1300m.
