ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WPDE) — A mass shooting in Robeson County left two people dead and several others critically hurt, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO).
The shooting happened just after 1 a.m. on Saturday at a Halloween party with more than 300 people in attendance.
Deputies said they were dispatched at 1:15 a.m. in reference to a loud music violation on Dixon Drive just outside of Maxton.
Before deputies arrived, Robeson County Communications received multiple calls reporting that people had been shot at the location.
Upon arrival, deputies found Jessie Locklear Jr., 49, and Nehemiah Locklear, 16, both of Lumberton, deceased at the scene.
Authorities said 11 others were injured in the shooting, and several are suffering critical injuries. The injured victims were taken to area hospitals, one being airlifted to Chapel Hill.

More than 150 people ran from the scene before deputies arrived, RCSO said. They added that there is no threat to the community, as it appears to have been an isolated incident.
No arrests have been made, but Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said there are persons of interest.
Some are cooperating, some are not cooperating,” Wilkins said. “Which is sadly common for a situation like this where you have this many people here its unfortunate that– because we’ve had another incident in the county a year or two ago with a similar scenario with over 150 people there and no one wanted to talk and it’s still an unsolved murder today.”
Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Investigators by calling 910-671-3100 or emailing sheriff.wilkins@robesoncountysonc.gov.
