Cunha was deservedly named United’s Player of the Match against Brighton despite fellow summer signing Bryan Mbeumo scoring twice.

After helping to secure a third consecutive win in the Premier League, Cunha took to Instagram to send a message to supporters.

Quoting the words of the iconic chant, Cunha wrote: “Take me home, to Old Trafford!”

Teammate Joshua Zirkzee was quick to reply: “Play hard”, while United legend Rio Ferdinand continued the chant by replying: “To see United!”.

Matheus Cunha has settled brilliantly at Man United

United moved quickly to secure a £62.5m deal for Cunha on the very first day of the summer transfer window.

Amorim wanted proven Premier League players to bolster his attacking options, and Cunha’s immediate impact this season shows why.

Cunha has been compared to Eric Cantona and while he has only scored one goal for United so far, it is clear to see why when you look at his character and mentality.

It is clear to see that the 26-year-old is already a hugely popular member in the dressing room, and he has already proven his worth as both a striker and a No.10 this season.

There will be many more goals to come from the Brazilian in United colours.
