Navpreet Singh was taken to hospital at around 1.30am on Wednesday (October 22)  by friends after he was attacked in a car park off Dudley Road.

Tragically, the 26-year-old had suffered serious injuries and despite the best efforts of medics, he was confirmed dead at around 2.10am.

A 20-year-old man remains in custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday (Friday, October 23).

Two other men, aged 23 and 34, who were arrested on suspicion of murder have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Today, Mr Singh’s family paid tribute to him – revealing that he was set to become a father-of-two. 

The family said: “Navpreet was a loving husband, devoted father, brother and son. He was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his second child.

“His wife is utterly heartbroken and inconsolable at the loss of her beloved husband, with whom she had been building a beautiful future.

“His two sisters, are absolutely devastated and inconsolable, mourning the loss of their cherished brother with whom they shared a deep and unbreakable bond.

“The family describe him as a kind, hardworking, and caring man who placed his loved ones above all else. His warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

“The family request privacy during this extremely difficult time as they grieve their beloved husband, father, son, and brother.”

West Midlands Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
