Sheehan’s side had only won one of their previous seven league games but the Slovenian international – who is keeping former City striker Adam Idah out of the Swans‘ line up – cashed in on more generous Canaries’ concessions.

“Norwich is a good team,” he said. “They have some very talented players and it underlines what the Championship is all about and how tough it is. I am very pleased for my team as a whole, we started the game really positively, got the goal and we had a few more opportunities to go and get that second goal.

“It didn’t come and then we conceded before half-time. They changed formation at half-time, they bring a lot of numbers to the build-up so we adapted as it can be hard to get enough pressure on the ball high up.

“As a defensive unit we limited them to very, very little and we are delighted with the three points.

“The lads gave everything and worked tirelessly for each other and the badge, so I am very pleased.”

Vipotnik took his tally to eight goals in all competitions to already surpass his total from a previous debut campaign in Wales.

“They were really, really good finishes, top-class,” said the Swans’ chief. “He was a livewire and I think he led the line. There are things that we want more of from him and for him to be relentless within that.

“But in terms of scoring goals, he gave two moments of real quality and that clinical edge we have been missing in certain games.

“He was exceptional, they’re high level goals, and you’ve seen a player that’s really enjoying his football

“When players come from different leagues, it takes different players, different times for it to gel. Jisung (Eom), for example, the same. Sometimes it will be hot and cold until it’s permanently hot.

“It’s about integrating them into that. With Vipi, he was up and down last year and then he came back fitter.

“He missed a pre-season with Bordeaux obviously last year when he came in and we probably didn’t see the best of him consistently.

“This year obviously he missed little bits of pre-season but I think he was in a better place and he understood what he had to do and he looks really well right now.”
