It happened at Barku Plastics on Corporate Drive off Industrial Drive SW in Cleveland shortly after 10:20am.

Police say they arrived at the plant to find the bodies of two men, who were employees.

The suspect fled the scene after the shooting but police say they were able to find the vehicle used at a home outside of city limits.

Police say a SWAT standoff started after the vehicle was found.

Cleveland Police Department Cpt. Evie West said law enforcement was taking every precaution while working to make contact with the suspect.

West also confirmed that the victims were of German descent.

“Thankfully, we do have an officer, Marlon Nelson, who has helped me deliver the death notification to the families in Germany,” she said. “His role has been very vital for us to be able to share that death notification. It is a very traumatic thing.”

Investigators are still working to determine what led up to the shooting.

“That’s what’s being said to us right now,” West added. “Of course, in order for us to put the pieces of the puzzle together, we are going to have to talk to several different people to find out more information on the suspect, the victims, and what was happening at the place of business.”
