A teenager has appeared in court accused of murdering his mum. Angela Shellis, 45, was found dead in Prestatyn on Friday, October 24.

Tristan Thomas Roberts, aged 18, of Coniston Drive, Prestatyn appeared in court today [Tuesday]. After an eight-minute hearing at Llandudno Magistrates Court, Roberts was remanded in custody.

He will appear before Mold Crown Court tomorrow for a preliminary hearing. He spoke to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

Defence solicitor Dafydd Roberts said: ”There’s no application for bail that could be made because of the nature of the charge against the defendant.”

Investigating officers appealed for information that may assist their inquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Gibson of North Wales Police said: “An 18-year-old male has now been charged with murder, following his arrest last week.

“I would emphasise that this remains a live murder investigation, and that we continue to appeal for information that might further assist us.

“Anyone who was in or around the Morfa area, near to the football fields, on Friday 24th October between 3am and 8.30am should contact us via 101, if they have not already done so.

“It remains imperative that we identify any persons in the area during these key times.”

Following the tragic death of Ms Shellis, a spokesperson for the family said: “Angela was a loved daughter, sister, mum and aunty and will be sadly missed.”
