If you’ve been anywhere near the internet in the past three days, the chances are you’ve seen the furore caused by Lily Allen’s new album, West End Girl. Fans allege the record covers the break down of her marriage to Stranger Things’ actor David Harbour, and touches on everything from a potential open relationship to someone called Madeline. But where does their relationship stand now?
After meeting in 2019 on the dating app Raya, the pair got married in Las Vegas in 2020, sharing insights into their relationship through their Architectural Digest tours, and in interviews.
But in 2024, split rumors began to swirl, with the pair eventually calling it quits in December that year. Fast forward eight months, and Lily dropped her new album West End Girl, which shares an intimate look at a marriage falling apart—and was recorded at the time of their break up.
While Lily revealed to British Vogue that songs on the album are “inspired by” what happened in her marriage, but are “not gospel,” people have interpreted some lyrics to be reflective of the couples’ relationship.

So exactly where do they stand now, eight months after the album was recorded?
Well, when asked by Interview magazine if the album was a “revenge tour,” the 40-year-old singer said, “It isn’t. I mean, I wrote this record in 10 days in December [2024] and I feel very differently about the whole situation now. We all go through breakups and it’s always f***ing brutal. But I don’t think it’s that often that you feel inclined to write about it while you’re in it.”
Lily then went on to give a couple of clues as to where her relationship with David stands now, adding, “At the time, I was really trying to process things and that’s great in terms of the album, but I don’t feel confused or angry now. I don’t need revenge. It’s not a cruel album. I don’t feel like I’m being mean. It was just the feelings I was processing at the time.”
The couple have never officially confirmed if they are divorced, however during her recent interview with British Vogue, Lily referred to Harbour as her “ex-husband.”
