Former president Sakellaropoulou to lead Athens and Epidaurus Festival

Former president Katerina Sakellaropoulou is set to become chair of the board of directors of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, following an invitation from Culture Minister Lina Mendoni.

“It is a great honor for the Ministry of Culture and the Athens and Epidaurus Festival that former resident Katerina Sakellaropoulou has accepted our proposal to lead the festival,” Mendoni said.

The festival, which celebrated its 75th anniversary this year, stands as one of Greece’s most prominent cultural institutions. Its annual performances at the Herod Atticus Theater and the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus attract audiences from around the world and serve as key landmarks of both Greek and international theater.

“The institution enters its next 75 years renewed and with great prospects,” Mendoni said. “Ms Sakellaropoulou’s presence as chair of the board lends prestige and momentum to the festival.”
