The prosecutor in the Golden Dawn appeal trial is expected to deliver her recommendation on December 12, after the round of defendants’ statements concluded on Friday.

Former Golden Dawn MP and MEP Ioannis Lagos gave the final testimony, describing the trial as a political conspiracy. “I know that I will not find justice here, but I intend to take the case to the European courts,” he said.

Giorgos Roupakias, the convicted killer of Pavlos Fyssas, did not appear in person to testify. His lawyer submitted a statement to the court expressing his remorse for what had happened.

“I want to humbly ask for forgiveness for the unspeakable pain I have caused,” the statement read.
