The royal formerly known as Prince Andrew might be a hint to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle about what’s to come once Prince William is on the throne.

After the news about Andrew’s demotion, the Daily Mail has officially dubbed it “William’s monarchy now.” The outlet believes that the move “clears the way for his real target: Harry,” and Meghan would be just like Sarah Ferguson, “collateral damage.

A palace insider agreed with the sentiment, telling the outlet that Andrew is just the start of a smaller, tighter royal family because “a bigger unravelling is coming” once the Prince of Wales is king.

“The role William has — to try to forge something sustainable — is now in stark relief. And no, Charles isn’t up to that job,” the source added. “Once Andrew stops being the convenient cover, then where will people look next?”

On Oct. 17, Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack claimed that William, not Charles, was the “real architect” in orchestrating Andrew’s ouster. The Prince of Wales “lost patience” with the way his father handled the Jeffrey Epstein crisis.

“William made it clear this couldn’t drag on any longer,” a source told Shuter. “He told his father that if Andrew didn’t go quietly, the family’s image would never recover.”

More on Prince Andrew’s downfall:

With Andrew out of the way, William reportedly has a checklist that includes other members of the royal family. The Royalist Substack believes he will issue royal executive orders called “letters patent” that will remove titles “from Beatrice, Eugenie, Harry, Archie, and Lilibet.” So far, Eugenie and Beatrice are safe, but with the feud still raging between William and Harry, anything could happen.

A source thinks Harry and Meghan “will also see their dukedoms and HRHs formally revoked by the new king. William’s reign will look nothing like his father’s time on the throne.

Shuter also reported on Oct. 31 that Harry “thought titles were untouchable,” but “now, he’s not so sure.” A source noted, “Once a palace is willing to demote blood princes, everyone should be nervous.”

William is unlikely to push his father in that direction right now; it will likely be a move he makes after his future coronation. Still, the precedent has been set, and a new era in the royal family begins.
