A murder investigation has been launched and a woman arrested after a man died in a suspected stabbing.

Castle Road in Chatham was cordoned off by police following the incident at 10.12am yesterday.

Paramedics were called to the scene, but the victim – who was in his 40s – died as they tried to treat him. Police say he had injuries “consistent with stab wounds”.

Officers have arrested a 45-year-old woman in connection with the incident, who remains in custody.

A police spokesman added: “Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police to contact them.

“Residents with private CCTV and motorists with dashcam are also asked to check for relevant footage.

Witnesses reported seeing multiple police cars at the scene as well as a forensic team yesterday.

One, who did not wish to be named, told KentOnline: “The road has been shut to all traffic and pedestrians between Victoria Road and Reform Road, including the junction with Listmas Road.

“It looks like a very serious incident.”
