Two people have died after a crash on State Highway 2 at Karangahake.

Police were called to the crash between Jackson and Rahu Rds about 11.40pm.

“A car collided with a power pole and tragically both the driver and passenger were killed,” police said this morning.

Agency said SH2 Karangahake remained closed between SH26 and Rahu Rd.
