Grey, cloudy skies at Shandon (stock)
It’s been a washout few days here on Leeside, and as we settle into November, it looks like the weather will be a bit of a mixed bag over the next week.
Thankfully, we’re set for a small break in the rainfall with Met Éireann predicting a mostly dry day here in Cork city. Light showers are expected in some areas this morning, but these should clear up before 10 am, leaving us with cool and cloudy conditions until late this evening.
The national forecaster predicts that downpours will return shortly after 8 pm, intensifying as we approach midnight and continuing into early Thursday morning. Temperatures in Cork will hover around the 14ºC mark for most of the day, only dropping down slightly in the evening as the rain rolls in.
Today’s conditions are pretty representative of the weather in Cork for the week ahead – a mix of cool, cloudy conditions and periodic downpours with temperatures remaining in the mid-to-low teens throughout.
However, the national forecaster has pinpointed one day for us to head out and enjoy some winter sunshine, with clear skies expected for much of Saturday. Temperatures will be marginally lower than today, but little to no rainfall is expected on Saturday, making it the perfect day to get out and about this weekend before heavy rain returns on Sunday.
