Nikki Reed Spoke About Spending Time With Taylor Lautner During the Production of the ‘Twilight’ Films

In the Twilight film franchise, based on the books by Stephenie Meyer, Reed played Rosalie Hale, a member of the Cullen vampire clan. In the films, specifically in 2011’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, Rosalie and Jacob have a volatile dynamic. However, Reed and Lautner were friends during the production of the beloved fantasy films.

While recording the November 5 The Squeeze podcast episode, Reed, who was 20 when Twilight premiered in 2008, said that she and Lautner spent time together.

“The moments that I remember with you are all not set related. They’re personal. It’s like, you know, your dad dropping you off to like my living room … I’m just remembering you doing back flips off my couch, like nonstop back flips. You were super into like parkour stuff,” said Reed while speaking to Lautner.

She also said that she would cook for him and work out while watching exercise DVDs.

“These are all such sweet memories,” said Reed during the podcast episode.

While recording The Squeeze episode, Reed noted that she had previously worked with the director of the first Twilight film, Catherine Hardwicke. Reed starred in and co-wrote Hardwicke’s 2003 movie, Thirteen, per IMDb. In addition, Reed appeared in Hardwicke’s 2005 film, Lords of Dogtown.

Reed shared that she was approached for the first Twilight film. However, she was “working in a clothing store in Hawaii” at the time and “really enjoyed [her] life there.”

“It took me a while to commit to the idea of another life shift again,” said the actress in the interview.

She said once she read the first Twilight book, published in 2005, she “jumped on board” and felt “super excited” about joining the film, which focused on high school student Bella Swan’s (Kristen Stewart) romance with the 104-year-old vampire, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson).

“I became a genuine fan, like probably every single person that’s ever read those books. It’s hard to not become invested in that story,” said Reed.
