The measures will protect the EU epoxy resin industry, which employs 1,400 people across the EU, from unfair and injurious trade practices.
The imposition of measures follows an investigation which found that dumped imports of epoxy resins from China, Taiwan and Thailand were harming the EU industry. The investigation initially also covered imports of epoxy resin originating in Korea, but this part was terminated due to a lack of evidence of dumping from Korea.
The anti-dumping duties imposed range from 17.3% to 33% for China, from 10.8% to 11% for Taiwan and 29.9% for Thailand.
Epoxy resins are a chemical product used to improve adhesion, resistance to corrosion and insulation. As such, they are widely used in construction, transportation and in the production of adhesives, paint and coating. They also have important uses in wind blade construction and are therefore strategic for the production of renewable energy.
