Per a new report from NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman, he doesn’t believe that Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube’s job security is an issue, at least not yet.

There isn’t much going right for the Toronto Maple Leafs right now, who have lost five straight games and are next to last in the Atlantic Division, a position they aren’t used to.

Their most recent loss was to the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-2 at United Center. It was also the second straight game that William Nylander didn’t register a single shot on goal, which hasn’t happened since 2019.

Right now, there has been speculation that head coach Craig Berube’s job security could be in danger if the losses keep piling up.

But per a new report from NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman, that’s not an issue – at least, not yet.

Elliotte Friedman: Re Craig Berube job safety: Not right now; I don’t see that right now – Saturday Headlines (11/15)

The Maple Leafs will play Berube’s former team, the St. Louis Blues, on Tuesday.

Elliotte Friedman Recently Described The Situation In Toronto As “Heavy”

Earlier in the week, Friedman described the situation in Toronto as “heavy” while naming other struggling teams like the Nashville Predators and Buffalo Sabres.

You look right now…the games feel really heavy in Toronto, and they feel really heavy for Nashville, and they feel really heavy for Buffalo, really heavy. My interpretation of “heavy” here, is that the games could carry extra meaning in terms of making bigger decisions, be it roster moves, coaching, overall team direction etc.

If the Maple Leafs can’t dig themselves out of their current hole, there could be changes coming.
