The peaceful death has taken place of highly respected Ardara shopkeeper, Tom Diver.
Tom has been described as a ‘real gentleman’ and was a familiar face behind the counter at the family business on the main street. A picture (below) has been placed at his favourite spot.

A photo of the late Tom Diver is placed at his favourite spot in his Ardara shop.
His beloved Ardara GAA Club paid the following tribute to him this morning: “The news of the death of Tom Diver late last night has been met with great sadness locally, as another pillar of our community and our club has gone to his eternal reward. During his life, Tom was a shining example to everyone of how to fight adversity time after time with the many health issues he faced during his life. His determination to win the battle each time and his zest for life is something that will always be remembered by everyone fortunate enough to have known him. As a Club, we have lost a loyal player of the 1960s and 70s, a great supporter from the sidelines for Ardara and Donegal and a sponsor and family who were always there with support for our Ladies and Mens team whenever asked”.
Late of Drimaha, Ardara, he will be dearly missed by his loving wife Mary B, his sons Damian and David; his daughters Maria and Grainne; his sisters Mary, Philomena, Greta and brothers in law Bartley, Charlie and Jonny D; his brother Columba and sister in law Margaret. He will be sadly missed by his son and daughters in law, as well as his six grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and extended family, neighbours and friends.
