Donations have been flooding to help bring the body of a tragic crash victim back to Scotland.

Heartbroken loved ones of Chloe Hipson, who was killed in last Saturday’s tragic road accident in Co Louth, set up a fundraiser “to give her the loving send off she deserves.”

And over €34,000 has been raised so far.

Tributes have been paid to the 21-year-old after Chloe’s family announced that a gathering for friends and family was taking place yesterday (Wednesday, November 19), in the Eternity Room of Quinn’s Funeral Home in Dundalk from 4pm to 7pm before her remains are repatriated to her home in Scotland.

Chloe, 21, from Bellshill in Lanarkshire, Scotland died alongside her four pals Chloe McGee, 23, Alan McCluskey, 23, Dylan Commins, 23, and Shay Duffy, 21, in the devastating collision in Dundalk last Saturday, just after 9pm.

Chloe, a second-year student at the Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) and her pals were travelling together in a Volkswagen Golf while on their way to Dundalk for a night out when it was involved in a collision with a Toyota Land Cruiser.

A sixth occupant of the Volkswagen Golf in which the group of friends were travelling, a man from Ardee, survived the crash with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been released from hospital.

Two people in a Toyota Landcruiser also involved in the accident escaped with non-life threatening injuries. They remain in hospital. The two vehicle crash happened on the Ardee Road at Gibstown.

The GoFundMe fundraiser, which has collected thousands in donations so far, says: “We as a club at Bellshill Amateurs were absolutely devastated to hear of the passing of 21 year old Chloe Hipson. Chloe sadly passed away after being involved in road traffic collision in Ireland. A young woman ready to live her life taken from her family far too soon.

“Chloe is the younger sister of current player Ryan and we don’t have the words to convey how devastated we are for Ryan and his full family.

“We are looking to help the Hipson family raise funds towards funeral costs and the costs of bringing Chloe home so that they can say their goodbyes properly and give her the loving send off she deserves.”
