Met Éireann are warning of a potential risk of flooding in place as a fresh weather warning has been issued for Donegal and three other counties.

A status yellow warning will come into effect at 9pm tonight (Saturday), and will be in place until 9pm on Sunday night.

The national forecaster is warning of heavy or thundery rain during this period, with the potential of hail as well.

Spot flooding is expected in areas, as well as some potentially difficult travelling conditions.

However after a week of icy and snowy conditions across the county, a repeat of that isn’t currently on the cards.

Sunny spells and scattered showers are expected during the day today, with cloud, rain and drizzle moving in towards the evening and highest temperatures between 6 and 9 degrees.

Overnight conditions will turn wet and blustery as the weather warning gets underway, with the potential for sleet in hilly areas.

Temperatures will dip to between 2 and 6 degrees celsius overnight tonight.
