President Trump renewed calls for federal intervention to stem crime in Chicago after shootings Friday left a 14-year-old dead and eight other teens wounded.

The two shootings occurred Friday night within an hour of each other in downtown Chicago, police said. In the first one, police said they were on patrol when they heard gunshots among a large group of people on the sidewalk. Seven teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17 were shot or grazed by bullets in that incident, police said.
